Eating in Moderation Will Give You The Sugar

"The Sugar".  A common slang term for Type 2 Diabetes.  Well, Paula Deen has recently announced she has had Type 2 Diabetes for 3 years.  Here is a gem of a quote from her recent coming out party.
"I have always eaten in moderation,"
I despise that supposed healthy solution to eating right.  It rarely works.  Eating in moderation got Paula Deen The Sugar.  People get sick when they try this as a life long strategy.  Eliminate the crap from your diet to help avoid getting chronic diseases.

I'm willing to bet she's been diabetic for more than three years - that's just when she was diagnosed. This stuff just doesn't drop down on you out of the blue.

I also happen to agree with you about the whole "moderation" bit - It. Doesn't. Work. Moderately consuming refined grains refined sugars, and soy and industrial seed oils is like moderately consuming arsenic - it WILL kill you, slowly at first and then in a fairly horrible manner.

That being said, I don't know why everyone has their knickers in a twist over her refusal to change how she eats now that she's "gone public" - most of the diabetics I personally know have flat-out told me they'd rather take medication than give up bread/pasta/cookies/cake/ice cream/*insert dietary poison here*.

@Jan
that is the world we live in. a world where a pill is a solution. the truth is, a pill is just the beginning of new problems. unwanted side effects in moderation.
